This workshop will prepare advocates to provide economic and financial education to women who have experienced intimated partner violence. This two-day training opportunity emphasizes safety considerations for battered women who are struggling with financial/  economic issues and gives facilitators practical, empowering financial education and advocacy tools.

 

Workshop Objectives:

  • Participants will gain an introduction to the connections between domestic violence, poverty, facilitator skills, and adult learning principles
  • Participants will focus intensely on safety, economic education and appropriate use of language 
  • Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on practice of useful facilitation activities 
  • Participants will gain individual economic advocacy strategies, including assessment tools; learn how to read a credit report and how to create a comprehensive, individualized cost of living plan
